Loving this petite suede tufted club chair sitting in front of one of our hand painted Katmandu pieces...Some of the most interesting pieces that we recently received...hand painted and wonderful...Katmandu, the capital city of Nepal, is home to many skilled artisans. This piece is hand crafted and hand painted by these artist. The colors on this cabinet are original. Due to their bleak surroundings the people of Katmandu prefer radiant colors which are highlighted in these select pieces we receive in....and yes we do have Lay Away please ask us about it!

New Items...Turkish Jugs & French Bottle Drying Rack

It's a new year and time for a fresh look at the shop. New fun and interesting items are arriving...love these great old turkish jugs displayed on this table, french bottle drying rack, and great large bread boards...

Collected from all over Turkey these terracotta jars were used for storage of olives, oils, and grains, and were traditionally buried to preserve their contents in colder temperatures. Glazing colors traditionally range from green to amber. Each jar is vintage and bears individual marks of use and history. A standby for us they are great to add texture and interest to your home and always beautiful stuffed with wild and wooly branches or blooming blossoms.

Our lovely and durable Tiered French Glass Drying Rack is great for drying, storing, and displaying an assortment of mugs or glasses on your kitchen island or buffet. These are always appealing whether they display your favorite coffee mugs and kitchen aprons to holding twine and garden tools in a potting shed. Love the idea of setting a bottle drying rack at the center of a beverage center for a party for your guest...Below are a few inspiring photos we found in case you wonder what in the world to do with one of these great pieces!

French Onion Soup

A traditional favorite. Full of flavor and perfect for tonight's dinner.

Ingredients:
3 large sweet onions, sliced thin
3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
5 cups or 3 (14-ounce) cans beef broth
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3/4 cup Roasted Garlic Onion Jam (Pick Up A Jar In Our Kitchen At Bonnes Amies)
1 loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch slices, toasted
4-6 ounces Gruyere, Swiss or Provolone cheese, grated

Directions:
Over medium heat, warm oil in a large stockpot or Dutch oven.
Add onions and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned.
Reduce heat to low and let simmer, stirring occasionally.
Cook for 35-45 minutes until onions are a deep, golden brown.
Add Roasted Garlic Onion Jam, broth, salt and pepper and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20-25 minutes.
Ladle soup into 4 heatproof bowls. Top with toasted bread slices and grated cheese.
Broil 2-3 minutes until cheese is bubbly and browned.
Garnish, if desired, with fresh chives, parsley or thyme.

Strawberry Sour Cream Tart

Ingredients:

Crust:
6 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, plus additional for greasing pan
Flour for dusting pan
1 3/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
2 1/2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
Filling:
8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 quart fresh strawberries
1/2 cup Strawberry Jam (Pick Up In Our Kitchen At Bonnes Amies)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Grease and flour a 9-inch tart pan with removable bottom.
Combine all crust ingredients in a bowl with a fork until well combined. Place crumb mixture in the tart pan and press with your fingers (or the back of a measuring cup) evenly and firmly onto the bottom and up the sides.
Place pan on baking sheet.
Bake the graham cracker crust until crust is firm to touch, about 8 minutes. Cool on rack.
Using an electric mixer beat cream cheese and sugar in a medium bowl until smooth. Beat in sour cream, lemon juice and vanilla.
Spread filling in cooled crust. Cover and chill until firm, at least 4 hours or overnight.
Arrange berries over filling.
Heat jam in a small saucepan or in the microwave until it is spreadable but not hot.
Drizzle jam over berries. Serve.
