Pine Niche Boxes, Santos, Amber Glass Votives...

Our old Katmandu cabinet is filled with new and interesting items...pine niche boxes, Santos, rusty yet refined metal domes, gold and silver leaf birds, and some of the most beautiful amber glass votives we have ever seen...
Just in are a few wonderful hand carved wooden Santos...with rustic scrubbed bodies and glass eyes they are something to see indeed! Santos --meaning "Saints"-- are wood carvings that depict religious figures. During the early expansion of the Roman Catholic Church, religious icons were a valuable way of converting the poor and uneducated. Most important during the Spanish colonization of the Americas, Santos were often produced by local artists since having them made and shipped from Europe to America was too time consuming. Santos carvings are still used in small churches and for home altars all over the world. As a decor item they provide sanctuary and a sense of place.
Also love these large stuffed map pillows bound in leather and these great canvas and leather vintage-style handbags...an unusual and unique decorative item for your home. We see them hanging on a hook on a wall in a room with a beautiful bunch of sunflowers stuffed in it or just hanging on a coat rack very unique bags!
