Chocolate Semifreddo Ice Cream
This dark chocolate semifreddo recipe couldn’t be any easier to make! It’s such a great easy dessert to serve your family or guests, especially on a hot day!
What Is A Semifreddo?
Semifreddo is an Italian, half-frozen dessert that is similar to ice cream in texture and taste but its structure is different. Semifreddo literally translates to “half cold”. It is normally made in a loaf pan which gives it an ice cream cake appearance.
Rather than scooping this dessert like you would with ice cream, you slice it! Thanks to the meringue mixed in to the recipe, it never gets too hard to slice, like an ice cream would!
It’s delicious!
Ingredients
2 cups heavy cream
1/4 cup sugar
1-teaspoon pure vanilla extract (Try our Award-Winning Mexican Vanilla from our Kitchen)
1 (12 ounce) jar Stonewall Kitchen Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel Sauce (Pick up at Bonnes Amies Kitchen)
Whip heavy cream in a chilled mixing bowl with a whisk attachment until soft peaks form. Slowly add sugar and vanilla.
Heat dessert sauce 15-30 seconds in the microwave, if it is not pourable. Make sure it does not get too hot. Fold into the whipped cream. Place in a covered container that can go into the freezer.
Place semifreddo in the freezer for at least 6 hours or overnight. Best if used within 3-4 days.
